From October 1 to 4, 2019, first year students of “General Medicine” and “Dentistry”, as part of the programs “Rukhani Zhangyru” and “The Seven Faces of the Great Steppe”, watched the movie “Tomiris” under the guidance of teachers from the Department of General Educational Disciplines. This film was shot by order of the Ministry of Culture and Sports by director Akan Satayev.
The film “Tomiris” tells a great story based on the annals of the ancient Greek historian Herodotus, which happened two and a half thousand years ago in the territory of modern Kazakhstan. This is the story of the fate of Queen Tomiris – a woman, mother and great ruler who led the Saki tribes, confronting the Persian conqueror Cyrus II, returning the legacy of her father and the freedom of her people. The historical drama caused delight and a storm of positive emotions among students, especially during the episode of the victory of Tomiris, who killed the formidable king Cyrus, the students applauded. Watching such historical films as “Tomiris” not only instills in young people an interest in history, but also forms a national identity, patriotism and spiritual revival.
