Leading scientists and faculty members of Semey Medical University have published an article “State of Specific Immunity in COVID-19 Patients Treated in Ambulatory Conditions” in the abstracts of First Eurasian Conference “The Coronavirus Pandemic and Critical Ict Infrastructure” which took place on November 28-30, 2020. The authors of the research are Imdat Efendiev, Yersin Zhunussov, Anargul Mansurova, and Ilyas Mukhamedzhan. The aim of the work was to study the state of specific immunity in patients with COVID-19 treated on an outpatient basis.
Venous blood was taken from 720 people who have had COVID-19 to determine specific antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 (JgM and JgG) by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).
The work was carried out within the framework of the project of the mayor of the Abai Region “Epidemiology in the region and the state of specific immunity to SARS-CoV-2 in the population of the Abai Region during the COVID19 pandemic.”
Based on the research, the scientists have come to the main three conclusions:
- In the first month of the disease, antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 were not detected in 14.8% of patients, after 2 months – only in 0.4%.
- The concentration of JgG to SARS-CoV-2 depends on the clinical form of COVID-19 and does not depend on age.
- Antibody levels are maintained for at least 6 months.
