On March 27, 2021, the Department of General Education Disciplines hosted an online academic Olympiad in the English language. The Olympiad was attended by students from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, S. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National University and students of Semey Medical University. The main goal of the Olympiad was to develop the foreign language communicative competence of the participants. The Olympiad consisted of two stages. Stage 1 is translation of an unknown text, in which participants could score 5 points as much as possible and stage 2, in which participants had to demonstrate speaking skills. 11 participants took part in the online Olympiad. The jury, which included faculties of the department Zhuldyz Toktarbekova, Aizhan Berikkhanova and Zulfiya Kakimova, determined the best. All participants were awarded with diplomas of 1,2,3 degrees and certificates. The results of the Olympiad:

1st place – Alina Dospayeva, group 20-23-2 GM, Kazakh National University named after S. Asfendiyarov

2nd place – Alisher Bolatov, group 1301pharm, Semey Medical University

3rd place – Shohrux Ikromov, group 1409 GM, Semey Medical University
