In 2020, Semey Medical University NСJSC was awarded a grant from the European Union Erasmus + program for the project to increase the potential of higher education “Harmonization and mutual recognition of master’s programs in occupational health and the environment / HARMONEE”. The consortium includes 2 European universities – the University of Milan (Milan, Italy) and the University of Utrecht (Utrecht, the Netherlands) and 9 universities in Central Asia, including the Semey Medical University.

The overall goal of the project is to improve public health knowledge and practice (including environmental health, occupational health and One Health) in line with current needs and gaps in Central Asian countries. The project involves the development and implementation of disciplinary and interdisciplinary modules in the Master’s degree program in public health in four Central Asian countries: Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

On December 29, 2020, the first internal meeting of the project working group was held to discuss the role of NC JSC “SMU” participation in the “HARMONEE” project and participation in the Kick-off meeting of the Consortium.
