During the event dedicated to the Day of the Medical Worker, a congratulatory speech was delivered by the strategic partner of the university in the person of the President of the University of Bashkent-Doctor, Professor Ali Haberal.
– Dear Prof. Dr. Yersin Zhunussov, the management team of Semey Medical University, all staff and guests,
Before starting my speech, I would like to congratulate the thirtieth anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Thirty years ago, with the guidance of the fearless leader Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev, Kazakhstan, our brothers got their independence. The independence of Kazakhstan is as essential to us as to you since we got our brothers by our side. I believe that the alliance between Turkey and Kazakhstan will conquer the World.
My dear fellow Kazakh medical doctors, it’s my pleasure to be with you on a celebration of medical workers’ day. Health became a priority since the existence of humankind. Once the healers try to discover the mystery of the human anatomy by observing the wildlife, then all critical names of Medicine left the legacy of their knowledge. Today we, the modern healers, are trying to discover the unknown parts of the human body, teach the next generation our arts, and serve to upgrade the quality of life of humankind.
As Hippocrates said, “Medicine is of all the arts the most noble”. However, by modern technology, the nobility of medical doctors and other health care servers become contentious as if the technology itself can cure the sick. With the emerge of the COVID nineteen pandemic, all the World reminisced the nobility of Medicine. No matter how advanced technology is, the diagnosis and treatment need the intellectuality of the human brain since there is no disease but patient. Although the technology is improving the diagnostic ways, the combination of the puzzle is only possible with the artisanship of Medicine.
As the health care servers of Turkey and Kazakhstan, Başkent University and Semey Medical University collaborated to improve the education of prospective doctors. We have combined all our strengths to advance the next generation of Kazakh doctors.
The phenomenal success of Başkent University has been attracting many Universities in the World. Başkent became a source of science and a bridge from Tokyo to Buenos Aires in a glance of a time. The know-how of medical education and health care services became one of our biggest strengths due to numerous success stories. As a source of know-how on Medicine at all levels, we have welcomed Semey Medical University as fellows, and today our collaboration has become an exemplar partnership that surpasses all challenges and creates harmony.
The first steps of our partnership involved the assignment of a provost for the implementation of the Başkent University Medical Education Model. Meanwhile, the harmonious work between both Universities led to a more comprehensive alliance, the World Bank Project on the modernization of medical education of Semey University. Our team of experts had worked on Semey Medical University’s current status and prepared a detailed roadmap. During twenty-one months of intensive work, teams of both parties accomplished an outstanding performance on implementation of the Başkent University Model to our fellow partner Semey Medical University. Throughout the project, every challenge was conquested with a story of success. It is so important to mention that this success has become evident with the existence of Prof. Dr. Yersin Zhunussov as a rector. His relentless efforts and encouragement enable all experts and staff to work seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day which as well the principle of Başkent University. Even the covid nineteen pandemic restrictions couldn’t decelerate the process. Under the leading of Prof. Zhunussov, all academicians and staff represent an impressive exertion that developed all system beyond reproach and reached all determined goals quickly.
I firmly believe that Prof. Zhunussov’s support, stability of his position, and commitment to his profession are vital for further development of cooperation on the modernization of healthcare and medical education not only at the level of the universities but also the countries.
His standpoint enables him to break the old habits’ chains, which takes Kazakh Medicine one step forward and develop. Prof. Zhunussov’s ability to overcome adversary and resistance without ruffling too many feathers makes him a perfect leader. During our partnership, the trustworthiness of Prof. Zhunussov has impressed all members of the Başkent Family. I believe that having Prof. Zhunussov on our side, there is no battle to lose.
I know that every student and staff who has worked or studied under Prof. Zhunussov will carry out Kazakh medicine to the competitive rank of the World. Last but not least, Prof. Yersin Zhunussov is a perfect messenger of Kazakhstan to the World with his international connections and close relations with the dignitary names of the Medicine.
While our experts have studied the project, we had a chance to observe the improvement in the health indicators of Kazakhstan. At first, as a professor in Medicine, I couldn’t understand the reason for the fast advancement in the rates. But the passion of Prof. Zhunussov showed me the main factor of this tall tale of success. The hard-working and committed leaders of Kazakhstan created a marvel, and I am so grateful to have a chance to work closely with one of them since twenty-eighteen.
On behalf of Başkent University and I, myself, would like to declare that the passion and hard work of my dear fellow Prof. Yersin Zhunussov should be awarded with the highest merit possible. Although the red tape had limited our chance to award Prof. Zhunussov as an honorary professor right now, it should be noted that through the years of our partnership, he became one of the earnest allies of Başkent and will always be a part of the Başkent Family.
Once again, I would like to acclaim all health workers of Kazakhstan for their relentless efforts to cope with the pandemic.
