Orazalina introduced the teachers and the laboratory assistant of the department with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated May 5, 2022 No. 888, the draft law “On amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, the main points and the meaning of the Republican referendum with the following wording of the question: “Do you accept the amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan set out in the draft Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, published in the media on May 6, 2022.
As you know, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, put forward a large-scale program of political modernization in his video address on amendments and additions to the Constitution. It was comprehensively discussed in society, the media. “We are moving to a new state model, a new format for interaction between the state and society. This qualitative transition can be called the Second Republic. The working group prepared amendments to 33 articles of the basic law, which is one third of the entire Constitution. The draft law on making these changes has been submitted to the Constitutional Council, which will soon issue its verdict. The Republican referendum is a nationwide vote on the draft Constitution, constitutional laws, laws and decisions on other most important issues of the state life of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” K. Tokayev said.
The teachers of the department were acquainted with the amendments and changes in the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, exchanged views. The teachers also noted that changing the Constitution through a popular vote would be a clear demonstration of the will of the people. The referendum will allow every citizen to take a direct part in deciding the fate of the country and will strengthen our course towards comprehensive democratization and building a “New Kazakhstan”.
