“The current state of compulsory social health insurance in Kazakhstan”

At the Department of Public Health of Semey Medical University, NCJSC for students of the faculties of “General Medicine” and “Public Health” of 1, 2, 3 and 4 courses, a seminar was held on the topic: “The current state of compulsory social health insurance in Kazakhstan”. Associate Professor of the department Samarova Umytzhan Sapargalievna, acquainted the students with the list of medical care in the compulsory social health insurance system, the principles of compulsory medical insurance, the rates of contributions and deductions for compulsory social health insurance, told about the categories of persons exempt from paying contributions and deductions for compulsory social health insurance, about the activities of the social health insurance fund, about the packages of compulsory social health insurance within the guaranteed volume of free medical care that are already working from January 1, 2020. She familiarized with the types of medical care within the framework of guaranteed volume of free medical care and compulsory social health insurance and the effects achieved in this case, such as continuity of care, accessibility of medical care and expansion of the profiles of medical services. The students were given detailed information about the preferential categories of persons, which include students, the amount of deductions and the purpose of funds that are accumulated in the social health insurance fund and their direct purpose.

Students were also presented with information from a sociological study, where, according to the results of a mass survey of the population, there is an increase in a confident positive perception of the introduction of compulsory social health insurance, and a decrease in the level of negative attitude towards deductions for compulsory social health insurance of the population. At the end of the seminar, students asked questions of interest to which the lecturer gave exhaustive answers.
