11.10.2022 students of the group: 1231 majoring in «Pediatrics», visited the regional museum of local lore of the city of Semey.
During the tour, the students were presented with the museum’s collections: fossilized shells of mollusks of various species, prints of plant fragments on shales, as well as a fragment of a part of the skull of a cave bear, woolly rhinoceros and bison, tusks, teeth and vertebrae of a mammoth, the shell of a fossilized turtle, found mainly on the banks of the Irtysh, in total more than 300 paleontological finds, make up the paleontological collection the museum.
The museum’s funds contain a large zoological collection of stuffed animals and various species of birds, as well as endangered and rare species of flora and fauna included in the Red Book of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the richest collection of horns of artiodactyls living in the region.
The exposition of the hall «Nature» exhibits a collection of insects, including some species of butterflies and beetles, collected in 1883 by zoologist Viktor Selevin, who studied the faunistics of Semipalatinsk.
