According to the policy pursued by the  SMU, NCJSC for Academic mobility, a resident of 1 year of study in the discipline “Family Medicine” ToleugazinovaAkbotaAitkalievna completed an internship in Atyrau region, Zhylyoi district, Kulsary city from September 21 to October 31, 2022. OO “Association of Family Doctors of Kazakhstan” to develop and strengthen the specialty of family medicine in Kazakhstan its specialists conducted individual practical training of young doctors in the workplace based on its pilot organization Primary health care in rural areas of Atyrau region. A selection and interview were conducted among the residents of the 1st and 2nd year of the Medical Semey University and the training in the discipline “Family Medicine” of the  SMU, NCJSC. In the course of training, together with doctors, the Association of Family Doctors of Kazakhstan provided: medical care to patients, during actions to measure blood pressure and blood sugar, taught patients the correct measurement of pressure, and advised on the prevention of diabetes mellitus and arterial hypertension. We conducted weekly training for doctors and nurses on the following topics: “Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in the practice of a family doctor. When do you need antibiotics?”, “Nicotine replacement therapy”, “Prediabetes in the practice of a family doctor”, “Antihypertensive drugs. Fixed combinations of antihypertensive drugs”, “Cough syndrome in the practice of a family doctor”, “Spirometry”. According to the ZERTE program, preventive measures were carried out among schools in Kulsary on the topics: “How to wash your hands properly?”, “How to sneeze and cough correctly?”, “Vitamins in vegetables and fruits”, “The benefits of drinking water”, and “Who do I want to be when I grow up?”. Participated in the V Congress of Family Doctors of Kazakhstan in Almaty on November 24-25, 2022, where she reported academic mobility resultsin a separate youth section. This section was attended by residents / clinical residents from Central Asian countries and representatives of the youth wing of the World Organization of Family Doctors Wonca.

Passing this internship gave me an incredible experience. I have improved my communication skills, working in a team and with difficult patients. Based on evidence-based medicine, I have learned to effectively adjust treatment, helping patients to change their lifestyles. She improved her practical skills, such as auscultation of the heart and lungs, palpation of the abdominal cavity and blood vessels, and percussion of internal organs.
