We are in the winter-spring period, during the peak of the incidence of ARVI (acute respiratory viral infections). According to WHO, up to 1 billion cases of ARVI are registered annually in the world. Close groups of children are considered especially contagious. Most often, “cold” diseases are observed in children with reduced or weakened immunity, as well as in those who have numerous contacts in preschool institutions and schools.
A round table devoted to the prevention of acute respiratory viral infections was held for students of the 7th and 10th grades in the State Secondary School No. 32, which was organized and conducted by interns of 702 GP groups. The interns covered in detail the issues of prevention of viral infections. The children were told simply and clearly about the ways of infection transmission: airborne and household (infection through household items, toiletries, children’s toys, linen, dishes, etc.). During the round table, the students learned about viruses, the ways of their transmission, preventive measures, and also received answers to their questions. The virus remains infective in the air for 2 to 9 hours. Susceptibility to infection is high and depends on the immune status of the child. A recurrence of the disease is also possible, which is especially often noted in weakened children. In addition to preventive measures, the children were told what to do if they got sick. Separately, the question of the importance of vaccination was raised. At the end of the conversation, each student received an information booklet and a personal protective mask. The event was interesting, all questions of interest to schoolchildren were answered. The round table was held on February 3, 2023, under the leadership of the head of the department of general and general medicine in Semey, doctor of medical sciences, Professor Dyussupova A. A. and curator of the group – assistant of the department Terekhova T. I.
