Winter School of the Hepatologist

A master class of the “Winter School of the Hepatologist” was held within the framework of the Scientific Gastroenterological School of the Department of Internal Medicine and Rheumatology, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Semey Medical University, NСJSC in an online format from February 20th to February 24th, 2023 for general interns practitioners, residents and gastroenterologists, therapists, infectious disease specialists (Order No. 88-C dated February 6, 2023).

The master class was organized with the invitation of the chairman of the PF “Kazakh Association of Internal Medicine Specialists”, assistant of the Department of Gastroenterology of KazNMU named after S.D. Asfendiyarov, Master of Public Health – Jumabayeva Almagul Yerkinovna.

The goal of the “Winter School of Hepatology” is to implement the program of the trinity of education, science and practice, to improve the competence of doctors in the diagnosis and treatment of liver diseases from the standpoint of evidence-based medicine.

The master class was held on the following topical topics:

  1. Non-invasive markers of liver fibrosis.
  2. Damage to the liver with long-term use of dietary supplements and energy drinks.
  3. Modern antiviral therapy for hepatitis B, C, D.
  4. Acute and chronic non-viral infectious diseases of the liver.
  5. Preparation of a patient with liver pathology for transplantation, immunosuppressive therapy after surgery.

The materials of the master class were informative, with an analysis of literature reviews, modern data concluded on the evidence-based medicine and the results of practical experience, with clinical cases, which significantly increases the professional interest and quality of the educational process.

The students of the master class actively participated in the discussion, asked questions, and received constructive feedback.

The conducted feedback analysis, based on the results of the survey, showed a high assessment of the practical significance of the “Winter School of the Hepatologist”.
