Semey Medical University, NCJSC is one of the participants of the International project «Training of self-diagnostics of breast cancer in Kazakhstani young population», implemented by Foundation «Education for Democracy» and co-financed by Polish-American Foundation of Liberty in the frameworks of the program RITA «Changes in region». AZS WSG Society (Poland, Bydgoszcz) is a realizer of the project. N.A. Balashkevich, Master of Medicine, teacher of the Department of General Medical Practice of Semey, represents SMU, NCJSC as a project coordinator.
This project has a very significant social meaning, because it’s directed to dissemination of knowledge and skills on self-diagnostics of breast cancer among population of Kazakhstan.
This project is implemented within one year in three stages. At the first stage of the project the course of planned events according to program of the training was executed within the framework of delegates visit to Poland. Certificates were awarded after successful completion of the training.
At present actions of the second stage, which is lasting from October 2022 to March 2023 and has the form of training of self-diagnostics of breast cancer for 100 staff of the university (Faculty, Administrative personnel, Educational support staff) and 500 students, are being realized.
Seminar includes interactive lecture on following questions: «Breast anatomy», «Epidemiology, factors of the risk and clinical manifestations of breast cancer», «Modern methods of diagnostics and visual demonstration methods of breast cancer screening», and mastering of practical skills on the training models by small groups. For assessment of learning progress of participants of the seminar pre-test, post-test, and control of several methods of mammary glands palpation on training models are performed. On completion of training certificate is given.
Faculties of the Department of General Medical Practice of Semey, medical residents, active undergraduate students were invited as volunteers of the project.
