Seminar “Viral hepatitis “A” and Measles in children”

On February 28, 2023, under the leadership of the head of the Department of Children’s Infectious Diseases of SMU, NCJSC, the chief freelance pediatric infectious disease specialist of the Abay region, Ph.D. Efendiyev I.M., with the support of the Health Department of the Abay region, a seminar was organized for medical workers of healthcare institutions of the Abay region on the topic: “Viral hepatitis “A” and Measles in children.” The seminar was held in a mixed format (offline and on the «Zoom» platform).

At the beginning of the seminar, M.B. Dayrabayeva, Chief specialist of the Health Department of the Abay region, have spoken. The moderator of the seminar Efendiyev I.M. made an introductory speech, who focused the attention of the participants on the relevance of the problems of viral hepatitis “A” and measles in children.

At the end of 2022 – beginning of 2023, there is an increase in the incidence of viral hepatitis “A” in various regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The epidemiological situation on the incidence of viral hepatitis “A” in Semey was reported by D.B. Tlekina, head of the Department of Epidemiological Control and Supervision. Further, the presentation “Etiology, epidemiology, clinic, diagnosis and treatment of viral hepatitis “A” in children” was made by the assistant of the Department of Children’s Infectious Diseases с.m.s. Mansurova A.A. The seminar was continued by Tlekina D.B. with the report “Sanitary and epidemiological requirements for the organization and conduct of sanitary and anti-epidemic, sanitary and preventive measures to prevent viral hepatitis A”.

The World Health Organization registered more than 155 thousand cases of measles in the world in 2022. Today, the incidence is noted in neighboring countries – in Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Russia. Epidemiologists of the republic, taking into account migration factors, warned Kazakhstanis about the danger of this viral infection (https://www.inform.kz/ru/almatincev-predupredili-ob-opasnosti-zarazheniya-kor-yu_a4038427).

The report “Etiology, epidemiology, clinic, diagnosis and treatment of measles in children” was made by the assistant of the Department of Children’s Infectious Diseases Smailov E.S. Further, Karimova L.S., a leading specialist of the Semey Department of Epidemiological Control and Supervision talked about sanitary and epidemiological requirements for the organization and conduct of sanitary and anti-epidemic, sanitary and preventive measures to prevent measles. The report “Laboratory diagnostics of sampling, transportation and storage of samples” was made by A.O. Bektasova, Head of the Virological laboratory of the NEC of East Kazakhstan region in Semey.

The results of the seminar were summed up by I.M. Efendiyev, answered the questions of the audience. The organizers received feedback from the participants at the end of the seminar. The seminar was attended by a total of 146 participants.
