Every day in different parts of the world people find themselves in situations where they urgently need first aid. In such situations, a person’s life directly depends on the qualifications of medical workers.

On April 27, 2023, the Department of Simulation and Educational Technologies, together with the Department of Emergency Medicine, held the 2nd stage of the Olympiad “In the zone of emergency”, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Semey Medical University among 5th year GM students. After the qualifying stage 1, 25 people were selected, of which 5 ambulance teams were formed. This format of the Olympiad is held for the first time, which aroused keen interest among students. Participants were offered scenarios with various situations that arise during emergencies. During the Olympiad, students showed teamwork skills, clinical thinking, leadership and communication skills. The scenario with the victim with an acute reaction to stress was unexpected for the students. According to the results of the competition, the team of the 5429 GM group did the best, in the 2nd place – 5428 group, in the 3rd – 5311 group of GM.

For judging were invited authoritative members of the jury, directly working in emergency medicine – Urazalina Zh.M., Semenenko S.A., Bekbulatov R.R. This form of the Olympiad caused a high response not only among students, but also among teachers. It was also proposed to hold similar competitions for interns and residents. The organization was greatly assisted by the winners of the International Olympiad “Territory of Urgent Conditions”, held in Karaganda on April 21.[/vc_column_text]
