A flower-laying ceremony was held today at the monument to the internationalist soldiers dedicated to the Defender of the Fatherland Day within the framework of the Ardagerlerdi Ardaktayyk party project.
The ceremony was attended by veterans of the war in Afghanistan, Deputy Governor of the region Abai Shalkar Baibekov, Governor of Semey Nurbol Nursagatov, deputy of the regional maslikhat from the AMANAT party Altai Dyusupov, commander of the RGC “Vostok” of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kuanyshbek Ushtaev, Chairman of the NGO “Veterans and Invalids of the war in Afghanistan and local wars of Semey city” Boranbai Begatov, head of the Department of Public Development of the Abai region Aidar Sadyrbayev, representatives of the branch of the “AMANAT” party of the Abai region, representatives of the Council of Veterans of the city, ethno-cultural and non-governmental associations, cultural figures, students of universities, colleges.
It should be noted that 1,100 soldiers and officers were drafted from the former Semipalatinsk region to the war in Afghanistan. While performing their combat duty, 44 people were killed, 2 were missing. Today, 433 internationalist soldiers live in Semey. Remaining in the ranks, Afghan soldiers continue to conduct educational and patriotic work among young people.[/vc_column_text]
