OSKE exam for 7th year GP interns

OSKE exam for 7th year GP interns

On May 25-26, 2023, an objective structured clinical examination (OSKE) was held at the Department of General Medical Practice in Semey in the disciplines “Children’s Diseases” and “Internal Diseases” for interns-GPs of the 7th year. The teachers of the department compiled checklists for the main nosologies studied by interns during the academic year.

The method of using “Active” and “Passive” stations has been used in the organization of the practical part of the summative exam since 2021 and demonstrates good results, high motivation of students and positive feedback from interns.

The students were divided into streams, at the same time there were 8 interns in the zone. The stations were divided into an equal number of active and passive ones (4+4). At active stations, interns demonstrated clinical thinking skills (taking an anamnesis, interpreting tests, prescribing treatment, deciphering ECG, dispensary observation, etc., counseling parents on early childhood issues), as well as communication and manual skills. Passive stations were expected to receive feedback on issues that were relevant to the content of the corresponding active station.

The teaching staff of the department evaluated the quality of the assignments according to the corresponding checklists.[/vc_column_text]
