From 08 to August 16, 2023, an entrance exam for residency at Semey Medical University was. Conditions were created to make the entire selection process transparent. This year the selection of candidatess for residency was carried out in a new format.

For admission to residency, the GPA in the bachelor’s degree, the overall final grade based on the results of the final state certification of the 7th year, as well as the entrance exam in a test format were taken into account.

The exam was in the university, in the form of testing. A checklist was developed for assessing the knowledge of applicants for residency, where:

– 60% was the GPA score for the period of study in the bachelor’s degree;

– 30% – overall assessment of the final state attestation of the 7th year (independent testing + practical part conducted by NCIE);

– 10% – an entrance test exam in the specialty profile in the volume of the program of previous education. The threshold level was 50% of correct answers from the total test questions (25 out of 50 questions).

I would like to note that when summing up the overall final grade, the greatest weight is occupied by previous educational achievements.

Future residents were selected in 39 main specialties and 2 alternative specialties. There were registered 692 applicants who applied for 278 allocated grants.[/vc_column_text]
