On September 25 and 27, 2023, a meeting on the topic was held in the assembly hall for students of the 1st year of all bachelor’s degree programs: “Countering cybercrime, including telephone and internet fraud.” The meeting was held by Mirat Kabytaev Meirambekovich, Senior Special Operations Officer for particularly important cases, Major of the police Department of the Abai region. The police major noted that internet fraud has recently become an urgent problem among students and the elder people. And every day new cybercrime algorithms appear. During the meeting Kabytaev M.M. told about the most common types of internet fraud, and through which sites and platforms fraud occurs. Fans of shopping through OLX and Kazpost often become victims of scammers. The police major requested students to always check the authenticity of internet sites and be careful when receiving suspicious calls allegedly from a bank. He also focused the students’ attention on statistical data: over 400 such crimes have already been registered in the Abai region, of which only 98 have been solved, since their disclosure is very difficult for law enforcement agencies.[/vc_column_text]
