Assistance to practical healthcare from residents of rehabilitation specialists

We are resident rehabilitologists, since the beginning of the academic year we have been practicing in different clinical bases, we often rotate and in each base we form a new baggage of knowledge, new approaches to rehabilitation. After all, each database is specialized in its own way for different diseases. Now, we are gaining experience in the children’s rehabilitation center “Toktamys”. In this center, we supervised special children with rare diseases.

With our clinical mentor, a seminar session was held for physical therapy instructors and doctors of the center. During the seminar session, we discussed a clinical case with a diagnosis of Rett. Studying the collected anamnesis, laboratory and instrumental studies, rehabilitation goals were set for this course. To date, this child is undergoing a repeat course of the 3rd stage of rehabilitation in this center. Additional approaches in rehabilitation were recommended.

We rehabilitation doctors should know all areas of medicine, including genetic diseases. Because in our practice there are all profile patients. Comprehensive knowledge of medicine is very important for professional training. Conducting such seminars and joint discussion with the staff of practical healthcare gives us the opportunity to develop our teaching competence, oratorical skills, and communication skills.

From our side, we also provide assistance to practical health care. We read and share evidence-based medicine, which we study from medical information systems widely used at our university, such as UpToDate, PubMed, Cochrane.

It should be said that I would like our doctors to share more interesting clinical cases from their own professional life, which fuels our interest in learning more about medicine, gaining experience for further professional growth.
