In 2023, on October 31, an online seminar was organized on the topic: “Measles: diagnosis, clinical picture, treatment tactics and prevention.” This online seminar was attended by residents of group 201 of the Department of Emergency Medicine and bachelors of group 5427 of the Faculty of General Medicine, who are currently studying in the discipline “Infectious Diseases in Adults,” as well as the supervisory group of the department 5207.
The speakers were residents of group 201 of the Department of Emergency Medicine, who highlighted the epidemiological situation of measles in Kazakhstan, noting that measles is a highly contagious severe disease of viral origin with an airborne transmission mechanism and that the contagiousness index for this infection is close to 100%.
The clinical picture of measles and its complications were covered in detail; an algorithm for providing medical care to patients with measles at the level of primary health care and in the hospital was separately presented. The speakers once again recalled that timely and complete vaccination is the main key to ensuring individual and population immunity to measles and other vaccine-preventable diseases.
