Hepatitis A is an inflammatory liver disease caused by the hepatitis A virus (HAV). The virus is spread mainly as a result of consumption by an uninfected (and unvaccinated) person of food or water contaminated with the feces of an infected person. This disease is closely related to poor-quality water supply or contamination of food, poor sanitary conditions, non-compliance with personal hygiene rules.
The most effective means of combating hepatitis A are improving sanitation, improving food safety and expanding vaccination coverage.
Interns-pediatricians shared handouts in the form of brochures, which provided brief information about the etiology, symptoms and prevention of hepatitis A.
