In order to improve the IT competence of the teaching staff of the NCJSC «Semey Medical University», training on the cycle «Creation and use of MOOCs on platforms», organized at the Department of Simulation Technologies and Medical Education, has been completed.

In the period from December 4 to December 20, 2023, 2 groups of employees were trained, including teachers of the Department of Dental Disciplines and Maxillofacial Surgery, the Department of Propaedeutics of Children’s Diseases and the Department of Nursing. The course was conducted by Associate Professor of the Department of Biochemistry and Chemical Disciplines named after Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor S. O. Tapbergenov R.T. Dinzhumanova and acting associate professor of the Department of General Educational Disciplines, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences I.S. Mussatayeva.

During the classes, according to the program of this cycle, students improved their digital skills to create a massive open online course. Teachers acquired competencies and practical skills in working with the Canvas online platform, the functionality and all services of the platform were studied and applied to create MOOCs in their disciplines. The teachers have developed a pedagogical design of the author’s MOOC. Each student has compiled a course program, thought out the content of the modules, prepared and uploaded the content of all modules, including monitoring tools in the form of tests of various formats and situational tasks. At the end, students who studied the proposed content, passed tests and received grades were invited to test the online course via the link.

According to the listeners, the developed MOOCs will be applied in further pedagogical activities to improve the effectiveness of the learning process.[/vc_column_text]
