On December 26, 2023, a seminar on the topic “Measles in children” was held at the Department of Children’s Infectious Diseases under the leadership of the head of the department Efendiyev I. M.
The seminar was attended by doctors of the regional center of phthisiopulmonology – pediatric infectious disease specialists, resident infectious disease specialists, interns – GP 613 and 614 groups.
The opening speech was made by the head of the Department of Pediatric Infectious Diseases Efendiyev I. M.
The incidence of measles in Europe and Central Asia increased 30 times in 2023 compared to last year. Kazakhstan ranks first in the world in terms of the number of measles patients. This is reported by UNICEF, 24KZ reports. The organization noted that in Kazakhstan, there are an average of 69 cases per 100,000 people.
Measles is an acute airborne infectious disease caused by the RNA-containing measles virus. The measles clinic is characterized by fever, general intoxication, catarrhal respiratory syndrome and the gradual appearance of a large-spotted papular rash on the skin, after which pigmentation and possible peeling are noted. For specific prevention, the MMR vaccine is used.

At the end of the seminar, the participants asked questions and thanked the organizers of the event.
