On the effect of energy drinks on the body of teenagers

Energy drinks can now be bought on every corner without any age restriction. But this does not mean that their use is safe for children’s health. Why are energy drinks not recommended for teenagers and what is their harm? On January 31, 2024, PhD associate professor of the Department of OVP Shalgumbayeva G.M., assistant of the department of OVP Saidualiev D.N. and resident of 2 years of study in the specialty “Family medicine” Muzhanova A.S. told about this. The seminar examined how energy drinks affect the cardiovascular, digestive, and nervous systems, as well as the effects on teeth and excess weight.

Thus, the participants came to the obvious conclusion that such drinks do not contain any “additional energy” in themselves, but only draw reserves from our body, thereby depleting it. It is important to remember this for young people who often resort to such a kind of “doping” in order to improve their performance during exams, as well as to feel cheerful during parties and discos. In fact, in order to solve the problem of “lack of energy”, it is enough to build a normal work and rest regime, observe sleep and nutrition. There is no need to pay with your own health for extra hours of artificial cheerfulness.
