International Epilepsy Day

On February 12, 2024, a seminar dedicated to the International Epilepsy Day was held at the children’s department of the University Hospital of the NJSC “SMU” and at the Center for Habilitation and Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities in the Abai region. The seminar was conducted by the head teacher of the Department of Pediatrics and Medical Rehabilitation named after D.M.Tusupova, pediatrician, Master of Medical Sciences Alibekova Bakytzhan Alibekovna for nurses and doctors of the center, as well as for residents of the department of rehabilitation and interns undergoing the discipline fundamentals of medical rehabilitation.
This day is celebrated annually on the second Monday of February. It was first celebrated in Poland in 2009 as the day of Epilepsy patients, and in 2015 received an international degree.
During the seminar, the theoretical part considered the causes that can cause epilepsy in children and adults, and measures that cannot be taken during a seizure. In the practical part, they mastered first aid for an epileptic seizure on a mannequin. At the end of the seminar, information materials were distributed to the participants and answers to their questions were given.
