Round table “World Obesity Day”

Round table “World Obesity Day”

In 2024, on March 6, a round table was held at the ZhDB clinic dedicated to World Obesity Day. The participants of the round table were doctors and nursing staff, moderated by the head of the department of infectious diseases, dermatovenerology and immunology N.K. Shaimardanov. , assistant Smail E.M. and GP interns of group 612.
The future doctors explained that World Obesity Day was established in 2015 as an annual campaign to support real action to help people achieve (and maintain) a healthy weight and metabolism, and reverse the global obesity crisis. The speakers noted that the World Health Organization is sounding the alarm: every eighth inhabitant of the Earth is obese. And on this day there is a need to once again remember the need to fight excess weight.
Among the population, as part of the prevention of excess body weight, one must remember six causes of excess weight: a sedentary lifestyle, abuse of alcohol, sugary drinks, baked goods and fast food, high stress levels, lack of sleep, family or national traditions – for example, in some families it is customary to “reward food.”
All round table participants were unanimous in the opinion that at the individual level, each person can: limit the calorie content of their diet by reducing the amount of fats and sugars they consume; increase your consumption of fruits and vegetables, as well as legumes, whole grains and nuts; engage in regular physical activity (60 minutes a day for children and 150 minutes a week for adults).
