School of Preventive Medicine at the Department of GMP, Semey Care for premature babies

The problem of caring for premature babies is extremely difficult, since children are not yet mature enough to exist outside the mother’s body. Prematurity is one of the leading causes of death in newborns. Premature babies account for 60-70% of early neonatal mortality. In Kazakhstan, on average, 20-22 thousand children are born prematurely every year (5% of all newborns). This forces us to treat prematurity as a problem of particular importance and requires special attention. To preserve the viability of children born prematurely, it is necessary to create special conditions both at the time of birth and during the subsequent adaptation of the child. The main condition for successful nursing of premature babies is the creation of specialized departments and special care at the outpatient clinic level. Care for premature babies is carried out taking into account physiological characteristics: imperfect thermoregulation, insufficient resistance to infections, a tendency to asphyxial conditions, immaturity of organs and systems. And a special role in this complex system is assigned to the families of such children. With a properly organized environment, premature babies survive, develop, and by the end of the 1st year of life they catch up with their full-term peers in many respects. The relevance of the issue gave rise to a more detailed discussion of all stages of the complex work of caring for premature babies, with an emphasis on the outpatient clinic level, including the role of the family, which will help avoid many medical and socio-economic problems in the future. The next lesson of the School of Preventive Medicine at the Department of General Practitioners in Semey was devoted to this topic, which was organized and conducted by interns of the 601st group of GPs under the leadership of the head. department, professor Dyusupova A.A., teachers Belyaeva T.M., Kamasheva G.T., Faizova R.I., Yurkovskaya O.A., Terekhova T.I.
