On March 26-27, 2024, an Olympiad was held among 3rd year students of the specialties “General Medicine” and “Pediatrics” in the discipline “Evidence-Based Medicine and the Application of Statistical Analysis Methods”, organized by the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics of SMU, NCJSC.
The goal of the Olympiad was to deepen students’ knowledge in the field of evidence-based medicine and statistical analysis, as well as to consolidate acquired skills. Students were given the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills.
The Olympics took place in two stages. The first stage – testing took place at the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, in which 54 students took part. Based on the results of the first stage, 5 participants were selected to participate in the second stage. The second stage was held in the “Own Game” format, where students demonstrated their knowledge in both theoretical and practical parts.
After completion of both stages, the jury members selected the winners after calculating the points scored.
The winners of the Olympics were: I place – Baktiyarov Adai, group 3102 OM; II place – Zakiyeva Dilyara, group 3102 OM; III place – Alina Aukenova, group 3101 OM. All winners of the Olympiad were awarded certificates, and all participants received valuable prizes.
In conclusion, the head of the department, Asel Zhanartasovna Baybusinova, made a congratulatory speech, who expressed gratitude to the students for their participation, as well as to the teachers for organizing and holding the Olympiad.
