Seminar: Problems of Gender-Based Violence

On March 27-29, 2024, a seminar was held for teachers of medical universities in Astana on the problem of gender-based violence in medical education. The seminar was organized by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the support of the UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund) Country Office in Kazakhstan. Teachers from NCJSC “SMU” took part in the seminar: Terekhova T.I., Abylkhanova A.R., Egezhanova G.M.

When conducting studies assessing the readiness of the health system to provide comprehensive medical care to survivors of violence, a low level of information from health care professionals on issues of gender-based violence was noted. The purpose of the event is to increase the knowledge of university teachers with the further introduction of gender-based violence issues into the educational process. Over the course of three days, issues of introducing issues of the health system’s response to cases of gender-based violence into the work curricula of undergraduate and residency programs were actively discussed.
