On April 5, as part of a scientific student project of the Department of Biochemistry and Chemical Disciplines on the problem of diabetes mellitus, first-year student Kuanashkanova Amina, group 1121, specialty “Medicine” held an informational and preventive conversation with students of grades 10 and 11 of KSU “Secondary School 1 named after. N.G.Chernyshevsky” of the city of Semey. The purpose of the lecture was to introduce early signs and preventive methods of combating diabetes. Diabetes incidence statistics are growing every year. This disease is terrible for its effect on the body and psycho-emotional state of diabetics, who more often complain of anxiety and are about twice as likely to have signs of depression than people with a healthy metabolism of the same age. The presentation of the lecture material aroused interest among schoolchildren, Amina Kuanashkanova answered students’ questions, and also held a conversation on the topic of choosing a medical profession, inviting schoolchildren to enter our university. The survey revealed that, unfortunately, there are families whose close relatives, both parents, have diabetes. At the end of the lecture, students received a reminder “Prevention of diabetes mellitus.” We express our gratitude to biology teacher Svetlana Nikolaevna Konovalova for her assistance and the opportunity to carry out important work on awareness of the problem of diabetes today and measures to prevent the disease.
