Classes at Speaking Club

NJSC Medical University of Semey was the first among the universities of the Republic of  Kazakhstan to introduce the practice of teaching foreign students in English, which brought a large flow of applicants from different countries, mainly from India and Pakistan. Students who graduated from the university have achieved significant success in their professional field, becoming excellent doctors and healthcare managers; they remember with nostalgia and gratitude their time studying and the skills they acquired not only in education, but also in communication. At NJSC “MUS” a “Speaking Club for international students” was organized for undergraduate students of the foreign department as part of the development of communication skills at the everyday and professional level in Russian. The goal of the club is to develop language competence for adaptation and integration, as part of social support, in preparation for communication with patients and internship training.

On the basis of the order, in accordance with the schedule and on their own initiative, the teachers of the Department of Physiological Disciplines named after the Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nazarova T.A. Usenova O.A. and Kovaleva L.V. have organized the meetings with Speaking Club students twice (in November 2023 and April 2024) on the topics: “Initial patient appointment” and 04/26/2024 “Instrumental techniques in clinical practice.” To prepare for the classes, a dictionary of terms on relevant topics was prepared for students. During the classes, attention is paid not only to vocabulary and pronunciation of words, but also to working with medical devices directly. The conversations were held with great interest and genuine interest on the part of both students and teachers.
