On May 15-16, 2024, an Olympiad was held among 4rd year students of the specialty “General Medicine” in the discipline “Conducting scientific research in medicine”, organized by the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics of NJSC “SMU”.
The goal of the Olympiad was to deepen students’ knowledge in the field of evidence-based medicine and statistical analysis, as well as to consolidate acquired skills. Students were given the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills.
The Olympiad took place in two stages. The first stage – testing took place at the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, in which 34 students took part. Based on the results of the first stage, 5 participants were selected to participate in the second stage. The second stage was held in the “Your own game” format, where students demonstrated their knowledge in both theoretical and practical parts.
After completion of both stages, the jury members selected the winners after calculating the points scored.
The winners of the Olympiad were: I place – Gupta Pooja Rinku, group 445; II place – Zubair Muhammad Danish, group 435; III place – Rajpurohit Rupendra, group 433. All winners and participants in the 2nd round of the Olympiad were awarded certificates, and all winners received prizes.
In conclusion, the head of the department, Asel Zhanartasovna Baybusinova, made a congratulatory speech, who expressed gratitude to the students for their participation, as well as to the teachers for organizing and holding the Olympiad.
