On May 16-17, 2024, the international scientific and practical conference “VIII National Forum of IBD” was held, organized by the Research Institute of Cardiology and Internal Medicine and the public foundation “Kazakh Scientific Society for the Study of Intestinal Diseases”. The Forum was attended by Professor of the Department of Internal Medicine and Rheumatology of NJSC “SMU” Zhumadilova Z.K. and the head of the gastroenterology department of the University Hospital Zhylkybaeva K.Sh.
At the plenary session, issues of organizing care for IBD at the primary care level, namely routing and dispensary observation of patients, were highlighted.
At the sections, reports were presented on such current topics as:
– modern possibilities of high-tech therapy for IBD, optimal time to start biological therapy;
– interdisciplinary interactions in IBD: on the provision of surgical care to patients with IBD in the Republic of Kazakhstan;
– nutritional support in patients with IBD: the role of integral nutrition, the effectiveness of probiotics, micro and macroelements, vitamin D.
The plenary sessions addressed such important issues as reproductive function, pregnancy and lactation in IBD, management tactics for such patients; modern approaches to the management of opportunistic infections in patients with IBD who are on biological therapy.
The VIII National IBD Forum was held at a high organizational level. It provided a platform for mutual enrichment of the knowledge and experience of doctors of all specialties necessary for an interdisciplinary approach in the treatment of IBD patients.
