On May 20-31, 2024, the Department of Internal Medicine and Rheumatology held a master class on the topic “Liver Pathology and Pregnancy”. It was conducted by Almagul Erkinovna Dzhumabaeva, assistant at the Department of Internal Diseases of the Research Institute of Cardiology and Internal Diseases of the Ministry of Healthcare, Master of Public Health, Chairman of the Public Foundation “Kazakhstan Association of Internal Medicine Specialists”.
The master class program was agreed upon with members of the hepatology school and compiled on current topics related to liver diseases during pregnancy:
– Cytolysis in clinical practice, differential diagnostic algorithm. Possibility of instrumental diagnostic methods during pregnancy.
– Vomiting in pregnancy: algorithms for the differential diagnosis of nausea and vomiting in pregnant women.
– Preeclampsia. HELLP syndrome. Acute fatty liver degeneration. Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy.
– Chronic parenteral viral hepatitis, diagnostic algorithm, issues of prevention and vaccination during pregnancy.
– Drug-induced liver damage, primarily associated with drugs taken before or during pregnancy. Management of pregnant women with portal hypertension.
This session was attended by all members of the gastro- and hepatitis school, residents in the specialty “Adult and Pediatric Gastroenterology”, as well as residents in the specialty “Adult and Pediatric Infectious Diseases”, “Family Medicine”. During the discussion of each topic of the master class, participants actively shared clinical cases from their practice and received comprehensive answers to all their questions.
