“Therapy”department of NJSC MUS is responsible for training of doctors in “Adult Hematology” specialty. Since 2022, the department has successfully trained future hematologists under the residency program. Residents are trained by experienced department staff, leading hematologists from clinical bases in Semey, Ust-Kamenogorsk and Pavlodar.
Currently, at the Department of Therapy in the 2023-2024 academic year, 12 residents are studying in residency in the specialty “Adult Hematology”, of which 1 year of study: in Semey – 2, in Pavlodar – 1; there are 4 residents in Ust-Kamenogorsk. 2 years of study: 1 resident in Semey, 1 resident in Pavlodar, and 3 residents in Ust-Kamenogorsk.
Residents work on the basis of Semey: Emergency Hospital, Polyclinic No. 7, in Ust-Kamenogorsk: Center of Hematology on the basis of the City Hospital No. 4. In Pavlodar, the clinical base is: Pavlodar Regional Hospital named after. G. Sultanov.

Under the guidance of clinical mentors, residents daily learn practical skills in supervising patients, performing hematologycal manipulations, entering medical documentation, including working in comprehensive medical information system. Residents participate in rounds of department heads, professors, clinical discussions and consultations. Under the guidance of clinical mentors, heads of departments, and leading residents of clinical sites, residents actively manage wards, participate in the diagnosis and treatment of supervising patients, and perform scheduled duty.
In the training of residents, special attention is paid to moral education, communication skills with patients and colleagues in compliance with the principles of medical ethics and deontology. Thus, thanks to the established school of mentoring on the principles of the trinity of education, science and clinic, the department successfully continues to train sought-after qualified hematologists.
