The Summer School is a system of additional educational services provided free of charge for 2nd year students of the specialty “General Medicine” in 3 languages. Theme of the summer school: “Pathology of tumors”.
The purpose of the summer school is to expand and deepen students’ knowledge of pathological physiology and pathological anatomy. Classes are held in the form of lectures. The departments have developed a thematic plan for 3 credits of an additional educational program. The teachers of the departments offered the attention of students the following topics in pathological physiology: Etiology of tumors. The role of chemical, physical, biological carcinogens in the occurrence of tumors. The role of the nervous, endocrine systems in the occurrence of tumors. The role of heredity in the development of tumors. The pathogenesis of tumor growth. Biological features of tumors. Antiblastoma resistance. Influence of the tumor on the body, paraneoplastic processes.
Topics in pathological anatomy:
Tumors general information, morphogenesis, histogenesis.
Epithelial tumors without specific localization. mesenchymal tumors. Tumors of exo- and endocrine glands. Teratoma. Tumors of melanin-forming tissue, nervous system and meninges. Tumors of the blood system.
The theme of the summer school aroused genuine interest among students, the number of students reached 56 students. The relevance of the topic is beyond doubt. After the discussion of the topic, the students actively asked questions to the teachers. Demonstration of micro- and macro-preparations aroused especially great interest.
