Summer school “Topical issues of infectious diseases in children”

In the period from 17 to 28 May this year at the Department of Children Infectious Diseases under the guidance of the head Efendiyev Imdat Musaevich for students of the 4th year of specialty “General Medicine”, interns of the 6th year of specialty “General Medical Practice” and residents-specialty “Infectious Diseases (adults, children)” and “Family Medicine” was organized summer school “Actual issues of infectious diseases in children”. The summer school was held in a mixed format. A total of 30 students participated.

The aim of the Summer School was to deepen knowledge and skills on infectious diseases in children.

For the first time, this event was of interest not only to students of different levels of education at Semey Medical University, but also to schoolchildren. Thus, theb11th grade student of Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Turkestan city Karimzhanova Dilnura took part in the summer school. Also listeners of the school were doctors – pediatric infectious disease specialists of the center of phthisiopulmonology and infectious diseases of Abay region and district infectious disease doctors.

The program of the summer school included the following issues: clinical, laboratory and differential diagnosis, therapy and prevention of acute respiratory viral infections, diphtheria, measles, varicella, scarlet fever, rubella, enterovirus infection, meningococcal infection, intestinal infections of viral and bacterial etiology, as well as particularly dangerous infections (anthrax, plague, cholera). The speakers were the staff of the department of pediatric infectious diseases: the head of the department Efendiyev I.M. and assistants: Mansurova A.A., Dalelkanova T.D., Smailov E.S., Kumarbekova A.K. Every day the participants of the school asked questions to which they received comprehensive answers.

On the final day a quiz on the Kahoot platform was held to consolidate the material.

The participants were solemnly awarded certificates. The trainees thanked the Head of the Department of Children Infectious Diseases Efendiyev I.M. and the whole staff for organizing and conducting the summer school.
