On 23 May 2024, assistant of the Department of Children’s infectious diseases Kumarbekova A.K., according to the conference plan of the department, in the framework of the summer school, held a seminar on the topic: “Bacterial and viral intestinal infections in children”.
The seminar was held both offline and online (through the Zoom platform). A total of 30 participants were present: infectious disease physicians, interns of the 605 group, infectious disease residents of 1-2 years, as well as undergraduate students. The opening speech was made by the head of the Department of Children’s Infectious Diseases Efendiyev I.M.
Acute intestinal infections occupy one of the leading places in infectious pathology in young children under 5 years of age. Intestinal infections are a polyetiological group of diseases (bacterial, viral or protozoal), which unite the development of the symptom complex of acute diarrhea. In the clinical diagnosis of intestinal infections in young children, the determination of the clinical form and severity of the disease, the severity of symptoms of dehydration according to the IMCI program is of primary importance.
In her report, Kumarbekova A.K. presented to the audience the etiology, pathogenesis, clinic, classification, differential diagnosis, laboratory diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of acute intestinal infections in children.
