In 2024, on June 5-6, the Semey Medical University NCJCS hosted a summer school “Current problems of enteral hepatitis A and E” off/online. With 1.5 million cases of hepatitis A reported worldwide each year, the prevalence and incidence of HAV infection are directly related to socioeconomic conditions.
Hepatitis E is prevalent mainly in tropical and subtropical regions; with hepatitis E, the overall mortality rate is 1–3%, and in pregnant women it is 15–25%. The moderators of the summer school were the head of the Department of Infectious Diseases, Dermatology and Immunology, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Shaimardanov N.K., Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor, Associate Professor Smail E.M., speakers Smail E.M. ., resident infectious disease specialists of the 101st group of the SMU, NCJCS (Semey, Pavlodar).
During the summer school, the etiological structure of hepatotropic viruses, the epidemiology of viral hepatitis with an enteral mechanism of infection (A and E), and the mechanisms of damage to liver cells in these hepatitis (pathogenesis) were analyzed in detail. The clinical picture (features of the course of hepatitis A and E in adults and at risk groups), marker diagnostics, and the basic principles of treatment and prevention of these infections were separately covered.
Students of the Faculty of General Medicine Sachin Agvalar (429 group), Sapargalieva Albina Samatovna (426 group), Abdul Basit (437 group) took an active part in the work of the summer school offline. At the end of the summer school, all students were given a certificate.
