June 04, 2024, teacher of the Department of Propaedeutics of Childhood Diseases Muratova F.K. with the curatorial group 3625 OM visited the regional museum of history and local lore of the city of Semey.
The museum was founded by political exiles in 1883. The initiators and founders of the museum were exiles E. P. Michaelis, as well as members of the Semipalatinsk Statistical Committee V. N. Filippov and M. I. Suvortsev. The museum collection includes more than 132 thousand items. The great poet Abai, philosopher and thinker Shakarim, and world-class writer Mukhtar Auezov contributed to the activities of the museum at different times. During the years of revolution and civil confrontation, the building was called the House of Freedom. Here in 1917, at a meeting with city residents, the leader of the Alash movement, Alikhan Bokeikhanov, gave a keynote speech. The museum’s fund originates from private collections collected by political exiles and political emigrants. Most of them were exhibits of archeology (427 units) relating to the early and middle eras of history, a lot of exhibits representing zoology, botany, mineralogy (1860 units) and ethnography (162). They still make up the gold fund of the museum. The students were very interested in visiting a local landmark. The excursion to the local history museum was educational; students actively asked questions to the guide and were interested in the history of the region.
