In recent years, volunteering has been actively developing worldwide due to the social activity of young people, who have consciously started providing support to those in need on a voluntary and unpaid basis. Engaging medical students in volunteer activities helps solve several tasks simultaneously. Besides the obvious social benefits of volunteering, there are undoubtedly educational and developmental goals as well. Moreover, participation in volunteer activities facilitates students in making appropriate decisions regarding their internal university career orientation. From June 18 to June 27, 2024, students from group 3301, the specialty “Pediatrics”, under the guidance of the Head of the Department of Propaedeutics of Childhood Diseases, B.Zh. Toktabaeva, visited the institution of the State Higher Medical College named after Kalmatayev in the Department of Hospice, where they helped care for bedridden patients: from hygiene to emotional support. The students were very surprised by the warm welcome they received and how the patients were reluctant to see them go. Such events kindle something kind and warm in the soul.
