09.04.2024, a round table “Prevention of “Monkey pox” – monkeypox” was held with the participation of doctors from the University Hospital of the SMU, NCJCS. Since the beginning of 2024, more than 14 thousand cases of human infection with monkeypox have been registered in the world, which has claimed the lives of over 500 people. On August 14, 2024, WHO declared the monkeypox outbreak a public health emergency of international concern.
Students of group 5318 of the faculty of “General Medicine” presented the epidemiological situation and geographical distribution of monkeypox in the world. The speakers of the round table covered in detail the clinic of Monkeypox taking into account the periods of the infectious process in this especially dangerous infection. The emphasis was placed on the differential diagnosis of monkeypox, the tactics of a doctor in case of suspected Monkeypox were worked out.
The algorithm for providing medical care in monkeypox was analyzed separately (work in personal protective equipment – safety of medical personnel, informing the hospital management about a case of a particularly dangerous infectious disease according to the approved notification scheme, transmitting an emergency notification according to the response plan).
