On September 11, 2024, the Department of Psychiatry and Narcology held an event “I love life!” dedicated to World Suicide Prevention Day for 1st year students of medicine and pediatrics of the russian department. Event organizers: Department of Psychiatry and Narcology, students of 5110, 3513 groups of medicine, resident psychiatrists of the first year of study.  Active assistance was provided by the School of Medicine and Pediatrics represented by Deputy Dean Kulgimbayeva A.Sh.

World Suicide Prevention Day serves as a reminder that there is an alternative to suicide and that through our actions we can inspire hope and intensify prevention.

“SMU” annually takes an active part in this event, conducting prevention among first-year students of “Semey Medical University”

Welcoming remarks to the 1st year students of Semey Medical University were made by: Head of the Department of Psychiatry and Narcology, PhD Moldagaliev T.M., associate professor of the Department Ospanova N.N., assistants of the department Almagambetova A.A., Altybaeva G.K. In their speeches, they highlighted the situation regarding the problem of suicide in Kazakhstan, and also spoke in detail about the problems that students of our university may have during the adaptation period, about effective ways that can help a person in crisis. The students were given effective suicide prevention strategies. Sensitive issues such as mental health, risky behaviors and suicide were addressed.

Students of 5110, 3513 groups of medicine presented a suicide prevention program, conducted psychotherapeutic training to increase stress tolerance, self-esteem and a positive attitude to life. The students received a huge amount of positive emotions. Life is wonderful and amazing!
