On September 17, 2024, the curators of the Department of Biochemistry and Chemical Disciplines named after Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Tapbergenov S.O. A curatorial hour was held on the topic “Ludomania: causes and prevention.”

With the advent of the Internet, gambling and computer games have become widespread. Thanks to this, children and vulnerable youth who are at risk of becoming gambling addicts or addicted to computer games have the opportunity to play them.  Gambling addiction hides a number of serious and significant problems, such as: psychological dependence, social withdrawal (desocialization), suicidal tendencies, etc.

The purpose of the curatorial hour was to familiarize students with the definition of the word “Ludomania”, the causes and prevention of gambling addiction, and ways to protect themselves from serious problems.

A presentation and slides were used. The curators shared examples from life and gave advice. The students listened with interest and asked questions. An interesting discussion took place and it was concluded that no one can change the behavior of a person suffering from gambling addiction – he himself must want to change.
