On September 14, the Day of Atopic Dermatitis took place in Pavlodar, during which dermatologists, allergologists, and pediatricians conducted a series of lectures dedicated to the diagnosis, clinical manifestations, and treatment of this condition. The event gathered not only specialists from various fields but also patients, providing a platform to discuss modern approaches to treatment and debunk myths surrounding atopic dermatitis.
Particular attention was given to educational lectures prepared by second-year residents. Second-year gastroenterology resident, Z.M. Eskendirova, delivered a lecture that debunked common myths in gastroenterology. The speaker emphasized that, to date, there is no scientific evidence confirming a link between parasitic diseases and atopic dermatitis. Despite popular beliefs, parasites are not the cause of this skin condition. She highlighted the importance of basing the treatment of atopic dermatitis on the principles of evidence-based medicine rather than on stereotypes and misconceptions.
Second-year allergology residents, N.S. Rustemkhanova and A.A. Asylkhanova, presented a lecture on the topic “Allergies and Atopic Dermatitis,” in which they thoroughly examined the mechanisms of allergic reactions associated with atopic dermatitis and emphasized the need for timely allergen diagnosis. They discussed modern methods of allergy testing and immunological assays, which help to more accurately identify allergens and adjust treatment accordingly to reduce the frequency of flare-ups. Additionally, the lectures covered the role of allergies in the development of atopic dermatitis, discussing the mechanisms of hypersensitivity and methods to control allergic reactions.
Such events are crucial for patients, as they provide direct access to up-to-date and scientifically backed information. This helps individuals better understand their condition and actively participate in its treatment. Throughout the year, the residents plan to hold several educational events on various topics related to dermatology, allergology, and gastroenterology to continue educating patients and their families.
