Atherosclerosis week

Atherosclerosis week

On September 6, 2024, at the Semey Emergency Hospital, as part of the Atherosclerosis Week, a lecture on “Clinical Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Dyslipidemia” was held for practical healthcare physicians and residents by the Head of the Therapy Department D.A. Mansurova. The lecture was aimed at raising awareness of the problems associated with atherosclerosis, as well as promoting preventive measures and modern approaches to the treatment of this disease. According to the WHO definition, atherosclerosis is a variable combination of changes in the inner lining (intima) of the arteries, including the accumulation of lipids, complex carbohydrates, fibrous tissue, blood components, calcification and associated changes in the middle lining (media). Atherosclerosis can be asymptomatic for a long time and only eventually lead to the development of angina, chronic cerebrovascular insufficiency, peripheral arterial disease, myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke or sudden death.
In order to successfully prevent the manifestation of atherosclerosis, it is necessary to conduct educational activities for both doctors and patients. A clear understanding of the doctor about the mechanism of action of drugs, the harm of using drugs without proven effectiveness, and the latest advances in the treatment of atherosclerosis will significantly affect the cardiovascular lethality.
