Seminar «Influenza and other ARVI in children. Monkeypox»

On 05 September 2024 in NCJSC ‘SMU’ held a training seminar for medical workers of inpatient and outpatient levels of Abai region on the topic: ‘Acute respiratory viral infections and influenza in children. Monkeypox’. The seminar was organized organized by the “Semey city department of sanitary and epidemiological control of the department of sanitary and epidemiological control of the Abai region of the committee of sanitary and epidemiological control of the Ministry of the health of the Republic of Kazakhstan” with the participation of chief non-staff infectionist of the region Abay, Head of the Department of Pediatric Infectious Diseases NCJSC SMU Efendiyev I.M., Attendees of the seminar were epidemiologists, doctors of polyclinics and inpatient clinics of Abay region.

The opening speech was made by the deputy head of DSEC of Abai region Toktabaeva A.T., as well as Efendiyev I.M., who focused the attention of participants on the relevance of the problem, clinical and epidemiological features of acute respiratory viral infections and influenza in children. The report ‘Etiology, epidemiology, classification and clinic, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections in children’ was made by Ph, Assistant of the Department of Children’s Infectious Diseases NCJSC SMU Mansurova A.A. On the current epidemiological situation on ARVI and influenza in Abay region and Semey city reported the head of the department of epidemiological control of infectious and parasitic diseases of DSEC of Abay region Serikbaeva A. B. B. Bektasova A.O., head of the virology laboratory of FRHP at PCV ‘NCE’, acquainted with the rules of material collection for virological examination in case of acute respiratory viral infection and influenza. With the report on the theme ‘Etiology, pathogenesis, classification, clinic, diagnostics and treatment of mpox the assistant of chair of children infectious diseases NCJSC SMU  Dalelkanova T.D. According to the seminar programme the head of department of epidemiological supervision over especially dangerous infections and tuberculosis of DSECC OA Sadykova Sh. B. outlined the data of the decree of Acting Chief Sanitary Doctor of the Republic of Kazakhstan № 8 from 26.08.24g ‘On carrying out sanitary and preventive measures to prevent the importation and spread of smallpox of monkeys in the Republic of Kazakhstan’.

Efendiev I.M. summarised the results of the seminar by answering the questions of the participants. The organisers received feedback from the participants at the end of the seminar. The workshop was held in offline and online format, online audience was more than 100 people.
