In order to further improvement of the ideological agenda in the field of internal policy and to foster civic consciousness among the youth, NCJSC “Medical University of Semey” announces a student essay contest on the topic: “My Profession – My Conscious Choice!”
Objective: The contest aims to explore the author’s vision and expectations regarding their career choice and future profession. It encourages identifying one’s abilities, opportunities, interests, and inclinations that may contribute to success in education and work. Submissions should be independently created creative works on the topic: “My Profession – My Conscious Choice!”
General Provisions
The conditions for holding the contest, criteria, and procedures for evaluating the works, as well as the selection and awarding of winners, are defined by the Contest Regulations, which are developed and approved by the university.
II. Contest Organizers
The organizer of the contest is NCJSC “Medical University of Semey,” Department of General Educational Disciplines.
III. Objectives and Tasks
3.1 To identify the abilities, opportunities, interests, and inclinations of students and develop an active civic position towards oneself and one’s life, which can contribute to success in education and work.
IV. Participants of the Essay Contest
First-year students from all specialties of NCJSC “Medical University of Semey” are eligible to participate in the contest.
V. ContestProcedure
- The contest will be held from October 15 to October 31, 2024.
- Essays should be sent to the emailood@smu.edu.kz of the Department of General Education Disciplines with the subject line “Essay Contest” by October 28, 2024.
- Each participant may submit only one essay.
- A committee will be formed to conduct the contest, consisting of a chairperson and experts from the teaching staff of the Department of General Education Disciplines.
- Thecommittee’stasksinclude:
- Developingthecontestprocedures;
- Informing participants about the contest;
- Servingasthejury;
- Summarizingthecontestresults;
- Preparing a protocol on the contest results;
VI. EssayRequirements
- The essays submitted for the contest must meet the following content and format requirements:
- Align with the contest’s theme.
- Reflect the author’s individual perspective, original ideas, and a unique approach to the topic.
- Demonstrate the author’s ability to justify their judgments.
- Formattingrequirements:
- The work can be written in Kazakh or Russian.
- It must be formatted in Word, with a 1.5 line spacing, using Times New Roman font size 14. The length should not exceed 3 pages. Any quotes should include proper citations.
- Coverpagerequirements:
- Full name of the educational institution.
- Author’s details: full name, course, group, phone number, and email address.
- Essays that do not comply with these requirements may be disqualified by the jury.
- Essays received after October 28, 2024, will not be considered.
VII. ContestResults
- The jury, consisting of the committee members, will review the essays and select the top three by October 30, 2024.
- From the top three, the jury will determine the winners (1st, 2nd, and 3rd places), who will receive certificates.
- When evaluating essays, the jury should consider the following criteria:
- The author’s argumentation for their conscious choice of profession.
- Emotional depth of the essay.
- Originality of the essay content.
- The awards ceremony will be held at the Department of General Education Disciplines of NCJSC “Medical University of Semey” on October 31, 2024.
- The university’s committee may decide to send one of the awarded essays for publication in the media and on social networks.
