On April 9, 2025, a large-scale event organized by the NAO “Semey Medical University” was held,. The Job Fair is a large event that has become a tradition. There are about 90 medical organizations from Ulytau, Karaganda, Kostanay, East Kazakhstan, Pavlodar, and Abai regions of our country visited the fair. The Vice-rector for Postgraduate Education and organizational Issues of the Non-profit Joint-Stock Company “Medical University of Families” Duman Berikuly, then the head of the regional health department Abai Moldabekov Talgat Karkenovich, the head of the personnel management department of the Health Department of Pavlodar region Yeltaeva Gulzhanat Oryntaevna and representatives of medical institutions of our region spoke at the opening ceremony. In the next stage, all participants went to the reading room of the university library and began work on attracting graduates.
On the part of the university, bachelor’s degree graduates participated, including in the fields of “Public Health” and “Pharmacy”, internship graduates in the fields of “General Practitioner”, “Pediatrics”, “Dentistry” and graduates in 37 residency specialties. There are about 800 graduates from the cities of Pavlodar, Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semey. Each institution communicated with graduates individually and carried out work to attract them to themselves. Graduates got acquainted with the presentations of employers, the equipment of the medical organization, working conditions, accommodation, social package and other important information.
In general, the shortage of medical personnel in the republic is at a very high level. In order to cover this deficit, the state implements large-scale national programs, including “With a diploma in rural areas”, “Modernization of healthcare in rural areas”, etc. Semey Medical University is one of the oldest educational institutions with more than 70 years of history, an institution for the training of medical personnel for the republic. During this time, the university has been providing high-quality educational services through the introduction of innovative learning technologies and the expansion of the research base of the teaching staff of the departments.
Holding a Job Fair is of great importance for healthcare in the Abai Region, East Kazakhstan and Pavlodar regions in terms of addressing the issue of staffing. So, currently, the shortage of medical personnel in the Abai region is 158 specialists, 152 in East Kazakhstan region, 180 specialists in the Pavlodar region.
This year, 1,111 young specialists are completing their training at the NAO “MUS”. Graduation is carried out simultaneously at 5 levels: Bachelor’s degree, internship, residency, Master’s degree and doctoral degree. At the undergraduate level, 331 specialists graduate in the educational programs “Public Health”, “Pharmacy” and “Nursing”. At the internship level, 412 young specialists graduate in the educational programs “General Practitioner”, “Pediatrics” and “Dentistry”. There are 335 specialists in 37 specialties at the residency level.
The process of student employment is carried out throughout the academic year. One of these events is meetings with district akimats and chief doctors of district hospitals on the one hand, and graduate students at internship and residency levels on the other hand. The organization of such meetings is one of the measures that help reduce the shortage of medical personnel in our region, where the district administration introduces graduates to the size and types of social support provided, conditions, housing, chief doctors, in turn, demonstrate the level of equipment in hospitals and the amount of wages. Students have the opportunity to ask their questions. Thus, meetings were held with 10 districts of the Abai region, 9 districts of East Kazakhstan region, 11 districts of Pavlodar region.
