Department Goals

To train qualified and competitive specialists who meet modern standards and are capable of independent professional work in therapy.

Department Objectives

To improve the knowledge of undergraduate, internship, residency, and master’s students, and to provide them with a solid understanding, knowledge, and skills in therapeutic disciplines to ensure the healthcare system is supplied with qualified professionals capable of delivering medical care to both adults and children using modern diagnostic, preventive, treatment, and rehabilitation methods.
Clinical Bases

The clinical base of the Department of Therapy at Semey Medical University (SMU) is the Emergency Hospital of Semey, which includes three cardiology departments, an endocrinology department, an intensive care unit, and a radiology endovascular surgery unit.
The educational process is closely integrated with the clinical and diagnostic activities of the hospital. The department also uses the University Hospital (UH) of SMU, which includes cardiology and rheumatology departments, cardiovascular surgery, and an endovascular laboratory providing highly specialized care.

Residency training in cardiology at the Ust-Kamenogorsk branch of SMU is conducted at the East Kazakhstan Regional Hospital and Diagnostic Center (Consultative and Diagnostic Department).

The department’s clinical bases fully meet the requirements for training specialists — undergraduates, interns, and residents — who have full access to patients and are actively involved in the diagnostic and treatment process.
